Athletics Direct is a leading UK manufacturer and distributor of high quality fitness and athletics equipment. Our range of equipment can be used for both training and competition purposes, with a range of training aids available to assist beginners.

We supply a number of Schools, Athletics Clubs, Stadiums and Leisure Centres with our products and believe it is important that all of our customers know how to clean and maintain equipment properly.

There are lots of useful guides for looking after your athletics equipment on the British Athletics TV YouTube channel, including a health and safety guide showing how to maintain your Throwing Cage.

As mentioned, it is important to pressure wash the area around the throwing circle, as build-up of debris and dirt could result in an accident. As suggested in the video, a mat could be placed outside of the throws cage in order for users to wipe their feet before entering the throwing cage.

The video also highlights the importance of regular cage inspection, health and safety bodies suggest that this procedure should be carried out at least once a week. You should look out for signs of structural damage such as tears in the net, corrosion and damage to the metal work. Watch the full video here for further information.

Athletics Direct stock a range of throwing equipment, from Hammer and Discus Cages to replacement cage netting. We have products compliant with UKA and IAAF regulations available, take a look at our full range of throwing equipment here.
